Today I recognise National Meals on Wheels Day and acknowledge the dedicated volunteers, staff and supporters of Meals on Wheels Bega Valley and Eurobodalla Meals on Wheels.

Every day, these volunteers provide far more than nutritious meals. They deliver friendship, reassurance and genuine connection to older people and others who rely on their support.

Meals on Wheels has long been a vital part of our community, supporting people to maintain their independence while giving families peace of mind that their loved ones are receiving not only a healthy meal but also regular social contact.

The compassion, generosity and commitment of Meals on Wheels volunteers strengthen our communities by fostering connection and reducing loneliness. They build trusted relationships that improve wellbeing, encourage independence and remind people they are valued, respected and never forgotten.

The work of Meals on Wheels demonstrates that caring for people is about more than meeting their practical needs—it is about dignity, kindness and ensuring no one feels alone.

I extend my sincere thanks to every volunteer, staff member and supporter for your extraordinary service. Your kindness, generosity and dedication make a lasting difference to countless lives every day.
