I recognise the Bega Parkinson’s Support Group and the extraordinary contribution it makes to people living with Parkinson’s disease across our community.
The diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease can be isolating and overwhelming. The Bega Parkinson’s Support Group changes that. It creates connection where there might otherwise be loneliness, understanding where there might be fear, and practical support where it is most needed.
Through regular meetings, shared experiences and peer support, the group provides a safe and welcoming space for people with Parkinson’s, their families and carers. Equally, it gives people confidence—confidence to ask questions, to manage symptoms, and to know they are not facing this condition alone.
The group also plays a vital role in raising awareness about Parkinson’s disease in our region, helping to build compassion and knowledge in the wider community.
This work does not happen without commitment. The volunteers, organisers and members who keep this group going do so with generosity, patience and care. Their work improves lives in ways that are not always visible but are deeply felt.
I thank the Bega Parkinson’s Support Group for their service, and I acknowledge the strength, resilience and solidarity they embody every day.
