Congratulations to the Bega and District Poultry Club on receiving $2,000 to support their Education Days project — a fantastic initiative that recognises the important role community groups play in both education and wellbeing.

The project will deliver a series of practical education days for backyard and hobby poultry keepers, providing participants with valuable knowledge on breed selection, housing, animal care and responsible poultry management. These sessions will help support local skills, confidence and sustainable hobby farming practices across the community.

The Education Days have been designed to create welcoming opportunities for people to connect with others who share similar interests, build friendships and strengthen community ties. In regional communities particularly, social connection and shared purpose can play a significant role in supporting positive mental health and reducing social isolation.

Community clubs such as the Bega and District Poultry Club provide invaluable spaces where people of all ages can come together, learn from one another and support each other through common interests and activities.

I commend the club and its volunteers for their commitment to education, inclusion and community wellbeing.

I look forward to seeing the positive impact this project will have across the region.
